When VantageScore 4.0 helps

Borrowers who pay rent, utilities, and phone bills on time every month but have thin traditional credit files. VantageScore 4.0 factors that trended payment data in — Classic FICO generally does not. If a borrower looks stronger on payment behavior than their tradeline depth suggests, VantageScore 4.0 may tell a fuller story.

When Classic FICO is still the answer

Everywhere it already works. It remains accepted by every agency and investor. Nothing about these changes removes or weakens Classic FICO — it is still the default, and every lender's systems already support it.
